Breast lump

Hi. Im 45 yr old female. Had mammogram done this past November.  They found several small cysts. All believed to be benign.  3 weeks ago, I was doing a self exam and found a firm nodule on my left breast at about 11 oclock about an inch from nipple.  It appears to be  attached to something(not free floating like the others). It seems like it's attached at the end of the lobule.

It does not move like the other cysts, and it feels firm but not rock solid either.  It is very noticeable when doing the exam and there is not a nodule on same area on other breast.  It is not painful and has not gone down after my cycle.

I am not at high risk for breast cancer I believe. But this feels more than just a cyst.

I do have heterogeneously dense breasts so could something have been missed on mammogram?   I do believe it has grown to a point where I was just able to feel it this past month.  I know the chances of this being malignant is small.   I am just curious and seeking reassurance.

I do see the doctor next week.

Thank you! :-)

Just an update. I went to my Dr. and she thought it to be a cyst.  It has since disappeared and I am fine. Thank you for your help!

Thanks .... will be waiting to hear some good news. In the meantime keep thinking positive and I am fully aware that it can be hard to do at times. We women are a tough bunch and always seem to come out on top of any situation. I think we surprise ourselves most of the time.  Take care ....

Thank you so much for replying. I really appreciate. I'm sure its benign. But I will worry until I'm told this.  My only concern is that the nodule appears to be supported by something underneath. It doesn't move like the other cysts which feel like pillows. This is different. Again, probably a Fibroadenoma.  It doesn't hurt so that's a good thing. Thanks again. I'll keep you updated! :-)

Since you have an appointment next week you will no doubt have an Ultrasound then or be ordered to have one shortly. This could very well be a Fibroadenoma and they can grow rather rapidly and don't necessarily reduce in size in relation to hormone levels. From what you say you have several cysts and therefore may be prone to develop these benign breast tumors as well. Nearly half of all women suffer from Fibrocystic Breast Condition and will have both of these findings. Anything new or unusual should always be investigated sooner than later. I'm glad to see that you are being pro-active in this matter.   Regards ...
