Burning, pain in right breast

Has anyone had a problem with burning and pain around the nipple area of their breast?  I have had pain for about a year, it started out as a light pain that would come and go, then it was more frequent.  For like the last 3 weeks my breast feels like it is on fire and the pain is unbearable.  Even to have the seatbelt rub it brings me to tears.  To explain be example I say it feels like something is tearing the skin and trying to climb out of my nipple.  It is just horrible.  I seen my Doctor and he said he doesn't feel anything and sent me for a mammogram.  I haven't heard from the doctor yet, but the lady that did the procedure said the radiologist didn't seemed to worried about the scans.  I am always getting the question of why I have waited for a year....my 6 year old son had a brain tumor removed in 2007 and I have been his caregiver.  He has been undergoing chemo for over a year and a half now.  He mattered most to me, but now that my pain is unbearable I can't wait.  If anyone has some answers that will help, please let me know.  I would like to have an idea what I am up against, and if I should pust for more answers if the mammogram was clear.

Of course that was the first question I was going to ask .... glad you explained and I certainly understand why you would put your own problems on the back burner. I hope your son is responding to treatment and does well. Now on to your problem ... if you have no other breast symptoms aside from the pain I'm not sure how you should proceed . I would wait for the results of the mammogram; there may be more investigation recommended. If nothing further is suggested and the mammogram is negative I would think seriously about consulting a Breast Specialist if this pain continues. You might ask your son's Oncologist about a breast specialist if you don't know how to locate one.    Kindest regards ....
