I had my very first mammogram and then a call back that required another mammogram and ultrasound. The mammogram showed a 7mm focal asymmetry in the area near my underarm. It had a rounded appearance with partially obscured margins and no definite fatty cleft. I received a Bi-Rad 3. It was recommended that I come back in 3 months for a follow up. The radiologist thinks it is a lymp node, I can not feel anything nor could my doctor. My doctor recommended me to get a second opinion this Friday with a surgeon.
My question is why did this spot not show up on the ultrasound? The tech and radiologist spent almost forty five minutes looking for it.
