could this be a breast cyst?

For a few months I have noticed one breast in particular is very painful for about half the month. It seemed to be getting worse so I went to the doctor who told me it felt 'lumpier' than the other side, and to go back after my period. I did this and the lump is still there (for some reason I have never managed to find the lump).

She said she thinks I've got a cyst in there and it's nothing nasty but I've been referred on the two week wait which has completely freaked me out.

Since my first visit to the doctors the pain has got less due to the time of the month, but it's still there and seems to have spread to my armpit/arm.

I have health anxiety and am a complete mess with this. Do these symptoms sound like a cyst to anybody with experience of having one?

You’re welcome,
I am sure that the “strange feelings in your arm” would   go hand in hand with symptoms of anxiety. I would advise you NOT to search too much information over the Internet about cysts/lumps in the breasts, because it can actually backfire when you come across diseases that have NO bearing in the first place regarding your particular situation.
As I said before, try not to worry too much, seeing a Specialist at the hospital for a second opinion it’s “excellent medical care” The Doctor will examine you and determine if further investigation is needed or not. Make an effort to stay calm …things could turn up just fine for you! :)

Hi,
What you have could very well be a cyst which is smooth, firm, movable and sometimes painful. Usually a cyst will increase in size before the menstrual period and decrease afterwards. The Doctor you have been referred to, will determine whether or not it warrants further investigation such as having a Mammogram or an Ultrasound . I don’t think you should be worried too much over this, since breast cancer is almost never associated with pain. Also keep in mind that most breast lumps are harmless.
Hoping that all goes well for you. :)

Thank you for your reassurance zouzi.  The strange feeling in my arm has only appeared since I was referred to the hospital.  I'm hoping I'm noticing things because I'm so anxious about it.  The trouble with searching for cysts is that a lot of information on breast cancer seems to be found which doesn't help.
