Just a reminder: Iodine supplements should never be taken unless tests have confirmed a deficiency, and a doctor has ordered supplementation, due to the possibility of iodine overdose.
As regards iodine, there are supplemental doses and there are therapeutic doses. Most people nowadays are deficient in iodine (1) because fluoride has been added to water and fluoride displaces iodine, (2) iodine has been removed from flour and replaced with bromide, which displaces iodine, and (3) the campaign to reduce salt intake has inadvertently reduced iodine intake because most table salt is iodized.
On the internet you will find screwball recommendations for huge dosages of iodine My usage is a modest supplement. There is a world of difference.
I fully agree with Japdip, that iodine supplement could be dangerous if you don't "NEED" it.

One additional comment .... as a rule cysts are not biopsied unless they are of a very unusual nature. After re-reading your original post I realized that it was the biopsy that the Radiologist advised you not to have done at this time. Sorry about that .... Perhaps since you have such confidence in your Surgeon (which is a very good thing) you might ask why he wanted the cyst biopsied before a re-check could be done. Take care .....
I'm not sure why your Surgeon would have wanted a repeat Sonogram nor why the Radiologist recommended that you not have it done. Anyway ... the plan to repeat the U.S. at the end of August is certainly advisable even though the consensus was "cyst" which as we know is a benign finding. I concur 100% with the response you received from "zouzi" regarding breast cysts. May I also caution you about taking any medication or suppliment without discussing it in detail with your treating Physicians. You might also be aware that what may seem to work for one person doesn't necessarily do the same for someone else. All to often we are tempted to "try" something we have either been told or have read about ... this is definitely a NO - NO. Be sure that when you do have the Ultrasound in August that you have available all your other films for the Surgeon to evaluate. Kindest regards ....
Potassium iodide is often used to treat cystic breasts. You might want to look this up on the internet. I take potassium iodide (Lugol's solution) because I am much given to cysts.
Hi.
Radiologists are quite able to identify typically benign cysts..Cysts are very common and almost every woman will have some during her lifetime.
Simple cysts are related to the increasing hormonal (estrogen) fluctuation and are harmless. If anything suspicious was detected when you had the Ultrasound, rest assured that a biopsy would have been recommended.
You really should not worry, because cysts almost never turn into cancer.
The suggestion by your Surgeon to have a repeat Ultrasound,is a wise decision to check for any changes.
However,if you are overly worried about this cyst especially because you have a family history of breast cancer, you could certainly discuss with your Surgeon if aspirating the cyst would be an option so you can have peace of mind.
Avoiding foods and beverages containing caffeine, such as coffee, tea, chocolate and soft drinks, can decrease water retention and may help shrink the cyst and alleviate discomfort if you have breast pain.
All the best!...
