Does this seem bad?

Since I March of 2008, I have been getting strange pinkish brown spots on my breasts. At first, I assumed they were normal, since breasts come in all shapes in sizes, but then my breasts started to HURT. When I wash them in the shower, if someone accidentally brushes against them, if I attempt to give myself a self breast exam, a seering, stinging pain seems to seer through my breast, especially around the nipple area, and the pain can last for about 15 minutes. In the past month, more of these spots have been popping up around the bottom of my breasts, the valley/cleavage area, and around the nipples. They are brown, with a hint of pink, and the outer ring around them is a darker reddish color. My breasts have become even more sensitive. I asked my best friend (whose mother passed from breast cancer) showed immediate concern when I showed her one of the spots that was in my cleavage area. Can this be a sign of breast cancer? Dark discolorations (brown and pink) and seering burning pain?

Dear missmariel:  Skin on the breast is like skin on any other part of the body and is subject to a variety of abnormalities.  If these are associated with seering pain, a dermatologist may be in order to make certain this is not some sort of painful rash.  This would be a very atypical presentation for breast cancer.

Thank you for your advice. I don't know if this makes a difference, but the skin on my breast isn't what's in intense pain, it's the inside. Like, the entire inner workings of them. But I made my appointment for next week and I'd like to thank you.
