Hi!
I had calcifications of my left breast that were being observed for a period of 18 months. I wish I had followed my instincts when I thought they should be biopsied right from the start. They were keeping them under observation by doing diagnostic mammograms every 6 months. At month 12, the calcifications weere reported stable, at month 18, my mammogram showed 2 tumours and growing calcifications. I was sent for Core Biospy.
3 hours and 28 pieces of tissue were taken out. I was eventually diagnosed with Triple Negative Invasive Breast Cancer, Grade 3, Stage One along with DCIS grade 3. I ended up having double mastectomies with immediate reconstruction using ALLODERM and Silcione Implants.
I am now in the middle of chemo therapy.
I did not tell you all of this to scare you, but to be proactive in your health care. If you don't feel they got enough tissue, then have it done again by another radiologist. Be persistent.
Wishing you all the best!

Hi,
The concern is that there could be tissue left behind that may have different results. It's really a matter of how much of the tissue needs sampling to be sure. When radiologist have doubts, he/she would rather err on the side of safety by making certain that nothing is left to chance.
If I were you I would not hesitate on doing this extra biopsy. It's better to make sure that all is fine, than assuming that all is fine and then find out that it isn't.
Biopsy procedure don't damage the breast, nor give cancer.I understand your frustration, but this things happen and we really have no choice if we want to make sure that our breasts are healthy.
I sure hope that your second biopsy will result the same as your first benign findings.
Wishing you all the best.
