The mammogram was clear but the ultrasound showed a palpable abnormality which they are saying is my rib. However, my ob/gyn's nurse practicioner called back with the report and said she had never heard of such a thing and needed the doctor to discuss it with me because it didn't make any sense to her. I'm still waiting to hear from my lupus specialist to get her input. Basically, they are saying that one of my ribs is so inflammed that it is palpable through my breast and that is the lump that I am feeling. The two docs that I have talked to about this seem very confused by this and how this is possible.
I hope you will write again with the information your lupus specialist provides.
With lupus, isn't costochondritis fairly common? But that would be painful - unless controlled with medication, I assume.
You don't say if the ultrasound or mammogram showed anything. Please do post what you learn. And you should have a copy of those reports. I don't know about you, but when I'm scared, I have a tendency to go a bit 'deaf', and need written reports.
