Hard lump

I have a lump under left arm. Feels like swollen lymph node. Is hard not movable. I have had the lump for about five months....seems  to have gotten larger. I had mamogram/ ultrasound in June or July....nothing showed up.

I saw my doctor yesterday. She  was able to feel the lump & is treating as fibrositic. I am to take Vitamin e & evening primrose for a couple weeks. Dr. wants to see if this clears problem.  I also have to quit all caffine during the couple week period. Has anyone had this similar experience? Is there chance this is cancer or more likely Fibrosistic disease? Is there a link to Fibrosistic disease & breast cancer? I do NOT have family history of breast cancer. I do have a sister that has had ovarian cancer. I would be grateful for any info!

Thank you ! Is it harder to detect a lump in someone that has fibriods? Maybe if they are reduced it makes it easier to detect what the real issue ...or lump...is?????? I can definately tell a difference in the lump under my arm & lumps in my breasts. They feel different.  Any thoughts????

I would think the antibiotics would clear up the infection. As long as some infection exists the lymph node may well remain swollen; that is their job. An enlarged lymph node is not at all similar to a breast cyst or Fibroadenoma so I don't see the connection between the Suppliments and Caffeine and the lump. If necessary a biopsy can be done to determine the exact problem with this node.  Regards....

Thank you. I probably should have mentioned that I am on my third round of antibiotics....for different reason but if it is an infection wouldnt the antibiotics work on it as well? I have been on Augmentin 875 ( two rounds), Clyndimician & now Keflex.

This certainly sounds like an enlargd lymph node. If I were you I would continue to have this investigated to find out why the lympt node continues to be enlarged and possibly even progressing in size. Lymph nodes often become enlarged due to an infection somewhere in the body.I'm not sure that suppliments will solve this problem. You might consider an appointment with another Dr. for a second opinion.   Regards ..
