Has anyone seen this happen?

Had a low-suspicion cluster of calcifications present for several years, biopsy 2006 showed benign. Was recommended to have a stereotactic biopsy done 4 days ago. Results would have been 2 days ago, but did not occur. I had to press to find out, but they sent the sample to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. (I live in southern Indiana.) Has anyone seen this happen before, why do they send them away?! Can't they diagnose cancer in Indiana? My nerves are ragged....

Mine took a week. Each time.

Best wishes :)

It's not unusual for delays in pathology reports... many times, it depends on the lab workload. Anyway, maybe the facility or surgeon that performed the biopsy has a close affiliation with the Mayo Clinic and that's why they're forwarding the sample to them.
In certain cases, this approach may be a routine procedure for your caregivers... but, this doesn't necessarily imply the presence of Cancer.
If I were you, I would calm down and not read too much into the process. Good luck.
