Thank you very much for your kind words. She felt the lump about a month ago and my finances were such that I could afford her to go to the doctor last week. Monday she had her first mammogram. She was told today that there are two lumps rather than the one she felt. More pictures on Monday. I am waiting for the Doctors to determine the next step (which I hope is a biopsy). Just have to get her over her fears of needles.
Thanks again
Sean
Your question is a little confusing - is your wife feeling "lumps" or did a few disconcerting spots appear on the mammogram? Women with very dense breast tissue will often show areas on a mammogram which are completely benign. If your wife is actually feeling a lump that has not been there before, it is a bit more worrisome although there is still a possibility of a cyst or tumor in the breast tissue that is NOT malignant. Mammograms are not foolproof, nor are ultrasounds or MRI's. Unfortunately, there is no one test that can determine the nature of these "lumps" other than a biopsy. Until she has that and until it comes back showing some kind of malignancy, please keep your hopes up. There are possibilities other than cancer.
