Nipple Pain

Hello, I am a 56yo male, and for several months I have had a "tingling" feeling whenever my left nipple would be brushed against or slightly touched.  Similar to a slightly aggravated nerve response.  For the past 2-3 months, however, this has changed; I now have substantial pain directly beneath the left nipple.  While I cannot detect a true "lump", it does feel more firm or full under the nipple.
My internist sent me for an Ultrasound and Mammogram; both of which came back negative.  His suggestion that this is simply a hormonal problem seems "weak" to me.  It doesn't seem reasonable to believe that a global type problem like hormone imbalance would cause distinct, continual pain in only one small area of my body, specifically one nipple alone.  Does it?  Or am I just being a psychosomatic baby about this?  I will say that my life's experiences have taught me to listen to my body and believe it, even when that runs counter to what a couple doctors may be telling me.

I don't think you are being a "baby" at all and I too am a believer in listening to my body. Whether this could be a hormonal problem is anyone's guess I suppose. If you aren't comfortable with the results then I suggest that you might make an appointment with a Breast Specialist in your area and take your films, not just the reports, with you to the appointment. Truly it may be nothing to be concerned about but one should never be left wondering. Make that appointment so you can have some peace of mind regarding this matter.  Best of luck and kindest regards .....
