Post Mastectomy lump findings.

In Oct 1, 2008, my wife had full mastectomy on her right breast and went through chemo and radiation treatment.  In Nov. '09, we found out that she had cancer on her left breast.  Feb '10, she had full mastectomy on her left breast.  She had chemo(pill form) and radiation treatment.  Last week, she found small lump on her right breast.  I'm really worried that she could have cancer again in her right breast.  What are the chances of getting cancer after mastectomy?

Very glad to know that the CT scan was negative and thank you for letting us know .
Having a biopsy as suggested by the Surgeon is a very good thing, just to make sure that all is fine.
Wishing your wife an uneventful biopsy and most of all favorable results!
God bless both of you...

Hello to all,

My wife's ct scan result was negative but they only mention the left breast. When we seen the surgeon, she recommended to have a biopsy to make sure findings are accurate.  She wil have the biopsy done this coming Wednesday.  Wil update you guys as soon we have the result.  Thank you.

Zouzi is right it could be either one. The best thing is to go back to surgeon or oncologist and be rechecked. I know that this is hard to deal with and sometimes it will get to be to much. My mother fought Breast cancer for 8 years. The family just stood by our sides and helped as much as possible. She had the same thing to happen to her and it turned out to be scar tissue but this is not something to just put off. It really needs to be checked as soon as possible.

Hi.
The new lump that your wife can feel on the previous mastectomy site could be a scar tissue or ( I hope not) a breast cancer recurrence. Please tell your wife to have it checked out by her surgeon/Oncologist to be more certain of the cause. If a biopsy is recommended I hope that it turns out to be scar tissue or other benign pathology.
Take care and best of luck to both of you...
