Q. re: prelim. process...

Okay.  Not getting much help from the dr./clinic side of things, so thought I'd try the real folks :).  I had a mammogram, got the all clear, but because I had felt a lump, they did an ultrasound.  Dr. doing the ultrasound found the lump, but said she "wasn't concerned" - again - all clear.  Go on vacation for a bit, come home to a phone message (and played phone tag, etc.) w/ a different dr. who - according to what I can gather (and that's not much yet) - was contacted by the radiologist after I left, asking her to get me into my local clinic.  I have an appt. this Tuesday to "discuss next steps"...based on "what the radiologist saw"...Next steps? on a clear m-gram/ultrasound? Huh?? A bit of advice from anyone would be welcome, to say the least!! Thanks :)

Thanks to both of you for answering my post! :) It helps to have different takes on it.  I did have a  nice vacation :) and it was weird to come home to this dr. calling me, but I'll find out on Tuesday what it's all about.  The back and forth w/the dr.s office w/the nurse saying she "can't discuss why I'm coming in due to her license" (?!) and the dr. then leaving me a mssg....saying she'd tell the nurse it was okay to let me know why I'm coming in....(even weirder...! why wouldn't the dr. just state it right then...argh!)... that's what I've been dealing with.  So thanks to you both for giving me a different perspective.  I'm going with it's a cyst and they wan't to aspirate, etc.

...waiting...ain't it fun??!

Even though the mammo was OK and the Doc wasn't particularly concerned about the evident lump that was seen on US; there remains a lump that needs further investigation. It may likely be a cyst that needs attention. I'm sure that's what the upcoming appointment at the clinic is all about. Do follow thru and find out what's going on. If you don't get enough information from any source just keep asking questions. It is your right to know and ask for copies of any and all reports concerning your case.

It sounds like they contacted another doc for a second consult and the second doc didn't like what s/he saw on the mammo or ultrasound or at least didn't agree with what everyone else said.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately since you had a good vacation without worrying about all this, I hope), they left you feeling you had an all clear.

So, next step is to find out why they feel you need to return.  Perhaps the second doc is more qualified???  Maybe after you hear this person out you might want to go have your own second opinion performed??  Depends on who this person is and what their qualifications are and what is said.

I'll say it is a bit strange.  Go find out what's up with the new doc and let us know what was said.
