Repeat mammogram with ultrasound
should I be worried about a bi rad category 0? I had a mammogram on Thursday. They called me today and said I need to come back for a repeat tomrrow because it was incomplete and also because I have a prominent lymph node under my arm pit that has been unchanged for the past 4 years that they would like to do an ultrasound on. Should I be overly concerned? This is the first time I have ever been called back. Thanks.

Wanted to let you know that my biopsy was negative for cancer!! YAY!! I want to let everyone know that you can have an enlarged lymph node in your arm pit bigger than 2 cent and it still be nothing. I am proof of that. Yes, always get them checked but it can still turn out to be nothing!! Thank you for your words of encouragment!

It's really hard to say,but if you have no other symptoms such as recurrent fever for no apparent reason, weight loss,night sweats and being tired all the time,then I would doubt that the swollen lymph node could be a sign of this disease.Sometimes a cyst under the skin in the armpit may be mistaken for an enlarged lymph node.To answer your question,if it were Lymphoma you would generally have more than one swollen lymph node.
However,because the node is larger than one inch (2.9 cm) your doctor is being cautious and is doing the right thing to have chosen to perform a biopsy to rule out lymphoma.
Trust your doctor who doesn't seem to be concerned about cancer especially because your mammogram resulted in benign findings.You will surely have peace of mind when you'll know exactly what's going on.

Thank you for your response. I went back this moring for my repeat mammo, which came back normal but the dr is concerned about the lymph node in my arm pit that has only grown from 2.3 cm to 2.9 in a 3 year period. There are no other swollen lymph nodes. Dr. checked me thoroughly and did schedule a biopsy for this Moday just for my peace of mind. My next question...could this be lymphoma? Wouldn't there be other swollen lymph nodes if this were the case? I don't know if I should be worried. My Dr. doesn't seem to be too concerned with the possibility of cancer at all. Thanks again.

A BIRADS category 0,means that the mammogram you had on Thursday is incomplete, meaning that the test didn't give the radiologist enough information to make a clear diagnosis.In this case a follow-up image is needed.
I don't think that you should be overly concerned about the lymph node in your armpit,since it's been unchanged for so many years.
Lymph nodes could swell because of an inflammation or infection somewhere in the body and can remain swollen for a long time even after the infection is gone.
Depending of course on what the Ultrasound will reveal about this node,your doctor may recommend to just monitor its growth every 3 or 6 months,or perhaps ordering a biopsy if the lymph node looks suspicious.
