Suspicious mamogram

I was told today that my annual mamogram came back with scattered fibroglandular material in both breasts and a new lump in my right breast that only showed up on one view.  They are sending me for a more in-depth mamo and a sonogram.  Is this something that is likely to be cancer or more likely to be benign?   I am a 49 year old in menopause with a paternal grandmother who died of breast cancer.  No other significant history except my maternal grandmother's sister.

God is so good.  I had the diagnostic mammo and sonogram on Good Friday.  After many pictures, the radiologist decided that the lump is a lymph node and not anything to worry about.  It is way back in my chest behind my breast but close to the sternum.  He assured me that it is fine.  Thanks for your encouragement and support.  I will continue to pray for all of you.

Hello, fibroglandular material found in your mammogram is indeed of benign nature. The lump you have though, has to be investigated further and the radiologist will let you know if you need to have a biopsy which is the only way to know the nature of this lump( It could be a cyst for all we know) .Anyways a very good percentage of all biopsies are found to be benign,so try not to worry too much because the waiting period wondering about the results is stressful enough as it is.Having a history of cancer in the family, doesn't mean that you will also have cancer. Please let us know about the results that I hope will be a good one.Best wishes.
