Throbbing pain

I am having occasional throbbing sharp pain on both of my breast for about a year. I credited to weight gain, but I still requested a mammogram last week even though my doctor's evaluation was positive. After the mammogram I received a call from the doctor's office letting me know that they needed it request my previous mammogram from 5 years ago to compare some symmetrical (?) shapes they found in my breast. The wait is kiling me.  There is no history of breast cancer in my family and my mother told me that she does have throbbing pains from time to time but she just had a mammogram and she was fine. I need to all the info/comfort the truth about my pain and why they really need to compare.

Hi,

Glad the post was of some help to you.

POS is associated with hormonal disturbances and this could be the cause of pain nad tenderness in the breast tissue.

Have any investigations been done?

What other symptoms are you having?

Let us know if you have any other doubts and post us about how you and your daughter are doing.

Keep us posted about what your doctor advises.

Regards.

Thank you very much for you response. I am 41 years old. I have not notice any changes at all with my breasts. However I took my 15 year old to an endocrinologist and she was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I realized that I have the same symptoms. I went to an endocrinologist myself and she ran some lab work and as of now she believes that I might have POS also.  Can POS cause muscle pain on my breast?
I am having an ECO done next week and will be talking with my gynecologist and pcp at the end of the week.  Thank you very much for your suggestions/advices. It means a lot.

Hi,

What is your age?

The breast pain could be due to a muscle pull, trauma or injury at the site, tight clothes, fibrocystic changes, hormonal changes, infection or inflammation like mastitis, etc.

You also need to investigate for a cardiac or pulmonary (lung) cause for this pain and to rule that out too.

You should see your doctor or breast specialist to get a clinical examination and rule out the above causes and find out the possible cause in your case.

Have you noticed any abnormal features on breast self examination like breast lumps, skin changes, or nipple discharge etc?

You could take some pain relief medications , breast massage, warm compresses , etc. This could help with your symptoms to some extent.

Let us know how you are doing and if you have any other doubts. Also post us the mammogram report when it comes.

Post us about what your doctor advises.

Regards.
