Waiting for Biopsy Results...Impatient

I'm 40 years old, had my first mammogram on 09/18/08, called back for additional mammo films and sonogram.  They did a biopsy of a .77 cm lump yesterday (10/07/08).  The lump is solid (not a cyst) and was not round, it was triangular with rounded edges.  Does the shape mean anything?  This is going to be (and has been) a painful 4-7 days...

It is good to find out the result in a short time to have a good treatment plan. Wish you the best for every thing and smooth surgery and recover well soon.

Hi , i had a (lumpectomy) in August and it was not as bad as i thought it would be hardly any pain or discomfort . i had to stay in the hospital one night and went home the next morning. Having my second chemo treatment next week. I also thought it was going to be bad but its not. I am glad you don't have to have chemo. Good luck with everything and God Bless you and your family.

Thank you all for thoughts and prayers...I met with the surgeon this morning and am scheduled for surgery (lumpectomy) next Thursday.  I will have to undergo radiation and possibly meds, but no chemo thank god!!!  It is Intermediate DCIS, and I will not have to have any lymph nodes remove either...god is good!!!

Get yourself together now and take someone with you to the appointment with the Surgeon. An extra pr. of ears is a valuable tool at a time like this. Make a list of things that you need to have answered or explained. Take some deep breaths and don't think too far ahead. One step at a time now and fill your head with positive thoughts.  Wishing you the best ... Kindest regards ..

Hey everyone...

Well the nurse called at 6:30pm tonight, and told me it is DCIS...I didn't handle it very well.  I have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow morning at 9:15am...I'm scared to death!

I don't know the answer to your question but just wanted to say that I hope you get good results and quickly.  My biopsy is scheduled for next Tuesday.  If I don't get the results by Thursday, I might camp out in the lobby to ensure not having to spend the weekend not knowing.

Best wishes!

All the symptoms you have now are almost like what I had. Mine also did not move very quickly. But that time I was in period. During the pre menstrual period the breast is very tender. Later I felt the lump is moving a bit. And also mine was not like a ball, it’s like a coin. SO to feel the movement is hard in this case. My strong feeling on you is that you have the same thing what I had. This information I’m sharing with you is based on my experience. Further testing is always required to rule out the suspicion.

Hi there,

I don't know if it is moving or not, I never felt it...I tried and tried after they found it, but never could feel it.

Hi, I too had the same situation what you have now. I had a 2.3 cm lump which is uneven (Bumpy) shape with clear edges. But still doctors suspected and did 2 mammos and one ultrasound guided biopsy and it came out to be the “Fibroadenoma”. So, in your post you mentioned that the edges are clear, I mean it’s not spread out or un even. That means, it’s very good sine. If the edges are not even then there is a chance to suspect some thing. Is your lump is moving?

Don’t worry and stay positive. I’ll pray for you.
