What else could this be?

ebk
I have had a mammogram, MRI and second look ultrasound and the doctor is still
unable to determine if an "irregular" finding is cancer or pre-cancer. She showed me what she believes to be a benign nodule, with a straight "line" of cell or tissue formation following around the ductal area right beneath the nodule (hope that makes sense lol). She said it's not a cyst or nodule...but she can't rule out that it may be an early form of cancer or that it may be pre-cancerous. (She saw this in the MRI images but not in the mammogram or the ultrasound). Now I am scheduled for a needle biopsy with MRI.

I've read up on what she is talking about and I know it could be ductal carcinoma...Here is my question:
What else (besides breast cancer) could have the same "appearance" on an MRI?

I didn't mean that you were placing blame ... sorry it sounded like that. Pre-cancer doesn't mean the same thing as "early cancer". It's a condition or abnormality that would increase your risk of developing an invasive cancer at a later date. This condition is usually treated by removing the suspicious area followed by some medication (often Tamoxifen) to reduce this increase in risk. The biopsy will settle the issue.   Regards .....

Oh I don't see where I suggested this is the fault of anyone?  I simply forgot to ask my doctor on friday (and she isnt available to talk until Monday) what else it might be besides an early cancer. thanks for your reply.

It could be just as she said; a pre-cancerous condition. It is no fault of the Dr. or any of the exams; only a biopsy can define a suspicious area as benign or malignant (cancerous).  Regards .....
