Thank you for responding back to this discussion, lynkeydee.

I don't think it matters so much at this point about who was right, or wrong, but more so that we had an opportunity to express our feelings. At least this was helpful to me.

This is not a professional forum but that surely does not mean you get more helpful answers from the professionals because they are so restricted in what they are allowed to say. (always legal minded? terrified to give any guidance or advice)

Most people come and ask questions and once they get an answer they are gone. (especially in the stage 3&4 forum, hardly anyone responds back to the one who puts a lot of effort into a thoughtful answer) It also matters because we want to know what happens, and are not some kind of machines?

There is a small group of us, lets call us 'regulars',  who have become pretty experienced about bc, or a certain area about breast cancer, because we have friends and family who have gone through this, or we ourselves have, and sometimes for years.

We have learned not only from our own experiences, but by listening to others,  doing tons of research, and many of us are working and/or trained in related professions.

My point here is, that  we on the other end also have feelings and we invest a lot here, and really have something to offer , although not everyone. Some of us are stronger in empathy, others more practical in giving advice, etc.

What you are referring to as lack of empathy is true, but this came not from a lack of heart from us, but the nature of the question, and this may not be about any of us, and probably not done on purpose by any of us. (just sort of bad luck, place and timing?)

Sorry you didn't get the help and understanding  and care  you were hoping for.

now, the reason I am going on and on is because I am much more interested in the person I am relating to than whatever problem they have. I am not into 'breast cancer' but just responding to people and we all have problems, right?

For all the reasons that unites as as human beings, I am glad we took the the risk to share how we feel and what we thought, and for myself I am no longer irritated just because I said what I felt and you came back as well and took that risk to speak your mind.

So thanks and take care, Katrin

its quite unfair to assume that no one would answer my question apparently you had something to say because u responded. I do not understand how one could take an issue that seemed to be resolved when BB realized her swift recommendation was not the best and turn it into this.

If I thought this was not serious I would not have gotten slightly annoyed.
Thank You for your lengthy and deliberate opinion, although I think that if you had any empathy you might just re read the original question. I posted this question after reading the comments from the previous posted question, so technically I did not ask for the Breast Cancer Site. I have a number of issues concerning MY health and just to let you know- My Doctor and Nurse practitioner were definitely CONCERNED!!!!!
I may sound sarcastic to you yet I do not believe what you have is a boil- is that a self diagnosis??  I do not believe I offended anyone when I wanted an answer to a question regarding an issue that was clearly STATED in the original question( boil happened 2 years ago)  Now ask yourself- why would I bother to post something quite personal if I did not Value a Professional Opinion??

I agree wit Kat,that your response to Bluebutterfly was sarcastic and not a nice thing to say to a dedicated member who is trying to help and taking time to answer your post.
The advice is always given according to what the poster is asking..if you had mentioned the things you said in your second comment, surely the response from BB would have been different.....

I agree with Bluebutterfly2222's answer.

You are asking a stranger who knows nothing about you about advice that you  have already figured out yourself. You are additionally  sarcastic, just because the person answering did not agree to your plan and nobody would have from your comment.

I currently have a huge boil in not the greatest location either, and it does not hurt at all. Hot showers or a bath in Epson salt actually helps the most most of the time.

There are both ER doctors and PC and everyone else for that matter who makes mistakes; does not mean you eliminate the whole profession or specialty.

What it comes down to, lynkeydee is that your question alone was obnoxious, your response back to BB not even worthy of responding to.

But I guess some people like BB are professional enough to not want to leave a bad feeling behind, and they care about telling you the truth and that sometimes also takes some risk.

Sorry--you did not mention any pain, much less intense pain, in your original post.

Hope you are feeling better.

Best wishes...

thank you for your suggestion. went to the ER this morning because Boil Had gotten bigger and PAINFUL!!!  IT WAS  exactly in the same area as the last one. meaning that it was not completely lanced the first time. DO YOU THINK THAT I SHOULD HAVE CONTINUED TO SEE A PCP??? LOL.. JUST wondering!!!  just do not think that would have helped considering that the PAIN WAS BEYOND INTENSE!!!

Since this is not really an emergency situation, it would be innapropriate to tie up ER resources.

It would be best to make an appointment with a PCP and follow his/her recommendations from there.

Best wishes...
