follow up and no one is listening at dr. office !!!

I had a follow up mamogram today, I had two six months ago and it showed one lump on my left breast, three on my right.  They were concerned about the right, today I had the follow up and they told me to come back in six months.  I have sometimes severe pain on the right side of my right breast radiating down my arm.  I also have a brown sticky discharge.  Why can't or won't they listen when I tell them it hurts and I am worried about the discharge.  Can you explain to me what this is caused by and should I find a new doctor?
Please I am desperate and scared
Thank You Pam

This is day three of antibiotics, I guess still to early as I will be on them for 10 days.  There is still quite a bit of pain, I understand that can be normal with breast problems.  The ooozing from the right nipple is still there.  I will keep doing what is perscribed for me and take it from there.  I feel better about the situation because of all that I have learned here.
Thank You all so much
Hugs, Pam

Thank You for your response, I did go and see my doctor today.  He did not do any kind of test on it, it was like he is afraid to touch it.  The discharge is only on the right breast and does frequently oooze.  It does not have to be squeezed.  My doctor told me that it was more than likely an infection of some sort and put me on anitbiotics.  I am not feeling very comfortable with him and may need to seek a new dr.  I will let the antibiotics run the  course and contact him in ten days.
He cannot answer why I would have pain radiating down the inside of my arm with such an infection, that kind of worries me also.
I will keep you posted and thank you so much for your help and ear so to speak.

The people who work at the mammogram place usually don't tell you anything. they are not really 'your' doctors, nurses and technicians, so I want you to know not to expect much there and that it's normal.

but the doctor who referred you, and I don't know who did in your case. (gynecologist, PCP?) That is the doctor who needs to discuss your case, and your symptoms and problems with you, and if she/he doesn't know anything, she/he should refer you to someone who does, like a gynecologist or breast doctor.

of course you have a right to be taken seriously, and to have your symptoms and pain evaluated. The mammogram was/is only one part, or step towards making a diagnosis and helping you better understand what may be going on. i am glad your insurance nurse took you seriously.

Since you have had frequent mammograms and the recommendation has been a 6 month follow-up I can only assume that the lumps in your breasts are either cysts or Fibroadenomas ... both of which are benign findings and both do cause pain and discomfort to varying degrees. Breast discharge usually is of no particular concern unless it is bloody and from one side only without stimulation (squeezing). This discharge can be of almost any color and consistency. If you have no confidence in your present Physician then by all means find another Dr. to evaluate your situation. From what you state you have been followed closely and as a rule there isn't much that can be done about the pain associated with Fibrocystic Breast Condition. Your best advice should come from a medical provider that can examine you and knows your medical history. Regards .....

The brown discharge can be due to benign condition such as duct ectasia or a papilloma. In any case the discharge should be sent to pathology for analysis. Also you should be referred to a breast specialist. Don't settle for just radiology evaluation.

Okay, I paniced and called a nurse for my insurance company, he told me to get to my dr. within the next 24 hours in regards to the breast discharge.  I am not on any medications, and I had a hystoractomy in 1999.  I will await your answers also and keep all posted.  Still really scared
Thank You !!!
