hypoechoic/anehoic lesion

I just had a mammogram done, and under impression on the report it said there was a subcentimeter sized hypoechoic/anechoic lesion in the inner quadrant of left brest with morphology possibly s/o benign etiology.  What does this really mean?

I always recommend that a patient ask for a detailed explanation of their imagery reports from their prescribing Physician who knows their complete medical history as this can influence the meaning of some of the terminology. Hypoechoic means that fewer echos were produced by the area in question than would normally be expected. Anechoic ... no echos. The cause of this is unknown from the partial stated report. I'm sure there must have been some recommendation as to what should be done next. Possibly some additional investigation. The lesion discovered was less than 1 cm in size; less than 3/8 in.   Regards ....
