lump and bloody nipple discharge

I had a mamogram on April 18th that magnified a lump on my left breast.  The doctor then gave me an ultrasound and immidiate needle biopsy.  When I asked what the lump was he said calcification.  This started because of a breast infection 3 weeks ago.  My breast was swollen, red, and very sore with a spontanious bloody discharge.  I finished the antibotics and the soreness and swelling went away.  A few days later there was spontanious discharge again and I felt the lump.  The lump did not hurt.  Can this be something other than cancer?

I strongly recomend you to go for the further tests. Recently on Apr 15th my sister is dignosed with the breast cancer(DICS) and she had microcalcification all over her breast and a nipple discharge. Very rarly this will lead to cancer and unfortunatly my sister is one of them.Mastectomy has done for her and waithing for the remaining results for further treatment.I"M NOT SCARING YOU. I'm just warning you not to take it easy and don't be panic.Just do what you have to do with out delay.

Dear toni40:  There are several possible explanations for lumps and even bloody discharge.  However, these symptoms warrant further investigation.  You should consider seeing a breast specialist (often affiliated with large academic medical centers) to further evaluate your symptoms and recommend what additional testing may be appropriate.
