lump first pain under armpit now aswell

i am a 25 years old male who took a course of steriods for training purposes nearlly 2 years ago. i found a lump in my right breast which became painfull when pressure is applied and the right nipple goes hard and becomes sore and my right nipple as become about 2 cm lower than the left. So i went to see my local g.p who sent me too a breast clinic for mamagram etc but on arrial at the clinic the doctor just gave my examiation by touch and said it was tissue due to the steriods and no ferther tests was carried out.that was about 4 months ago but sice a week ago i have been getting a mild consistant pain under my right armpit and due to no tests been carried doubts are starting to creap back in but i dont want to jsut go to the doctors agian and look stupid....can any settle my mind. thanks

Iv recently found a tiny lump under my armpit, i cant see how a small painful lump would be cancerous? It also hurts when i lift my arms up or stretch my arms out.

The lump under your armpit is likely JUST an inflamation of the lymph nodes, i had it to, very healthy, drug free, active male 28 yrs old. I am not an expert but I do think it is quite common. Mine lasted maybe 2-3 months eventually went away. I hope that is all it is for you also. I have a different circumstance right now.

i am a 20 year old male who has just recently discovered a lump under my armpit, it is located at the very top of my armpit to my front side close to my right breast. Its about 1/2 an inch in diameter and the same in depth, its not visible(no bruising,redness, it isn't sore unless i irritate it by squeezing etc. I'am 6ft 2", well built,fit and i dont take any steroids or sutitute's and lead a generally healthy life. I was told not to worry about it by a friend and told it would probably go away. Iv had it for about 5months now and it hasn't gone away, it has gotten slightly bigger over the last couple of months so i was wondering if you could offer me any advice to put my mind at rest.Thanks

In order to get an "official" answer on this list you need to post a new question.  Sometimes it's tough to get in but keep trying especially early in the day.  That being said, this does sound like something worth checking into further, if for no other reason than your peace of mind.  A physical exam would be needed to give you any real idea of what's going on.

Dear seanstigers, This pain might be related to what's happened with your breast or not.  Further evaluation in terms of questioning regarding your symptoms at least should happen.

Don't be afraid to go back the the breast specialist and insist they do something, other than feeling the area, to determine what is causing the lumps and the pain.  I've read the young women (under 30) are often dismissed like that, because many doctors just say that kind of cancer is unlikely, but occasionaly they in fact do have cancer. Don't let them dismiss you and if one specialist refuses to do futher testing, go to another one.  Good luck to you.

Personally, I think mammograms in males are nearly useless: one can feel the tissue clearly and decide whether or how to do a biopsy. Male breast cancer occurs, but it's nearly unheard of at your age, and with a good explanation (steroids), that's likely it. When the male breast enlarges due to things that aren't cancer, it's nearly always of uniform texture, and fairly centered with respect to the nipple. In a young man with such a description, I usually offer followup alone if he's comfortable. It's also easy to sample with a needle; removing the tissue is not a particularly big deal, either. The point is that, although what you describe sounds innocent, if you are finding yourself worried you certainly ought to get some sort of followup. I'd say to see the specialist again (assuming he/she was a surgeon and not just a radiologist) and let him/her know how you're feeling. If the person you saw wasn't a surgeon, it would be good to see one; you may want to begin simply by re-connecting with your gp.

Could this be gynomastia? I have read that this may have to do with an overproduction of testosterone at or around the time of puberty. Thus resulting in Gynomastia. Bodybuilders who have used steroids for a period of time have a similar result. The excess testosterone when coming off of a cycle of anabolics too fast will sometimes result in a fatty tissue under the nipple, or gynomastia. Many young males seem to develop this condition in their late teens to mid 20's. Just a thought!
