Hi,

A lead shield is usually placed on the abdomen when doing a mammogram in a pregnant female for a suspicious breast lesion.

This does not pose much risk to the fetus.

Normal screening mammograms are not done in pregnancy.

Your doctor and radiologist need to be aware that you are pregnant.

Let us know if you have any other doubts.

Regards.

A mammogram is an X-ray ... your physician should certainlyl be advised of the pregnancy as well as the Technicians doing the test as there are protective measures that can be taken if the mammogram is absolutely necessary at this time. It is NOT without risk !!!!
