no 20 yr survival rates?

Why are cancer survival rates listed in terms of five or ten years?  Is it unlikely to survive longer than ten years after being diagnosed with cancer?

In the UK there are percentages being published for 20 survival in different age categories. You might put "20 year survival rate in breast cancer" in search and you will find several sites listing the percentages. I've seen it listed anywhere from 72% to 64% .... without metastises.   Regards ....
