I suppose you could call it a grey area .... DCIS is Ductal Carcinoma InSitu. it is cancer that is contained within the duct with no invasion outside the duct.  ADH is sometimes called pre-cancerous  but only increases the risk of developing breast cancer in the future; that is why the area is usually excised with clear margins and also followed by some form of treatment after surgery. Sometimes Radiation and Tamoxifen if it's  hormone receptor  positive.  Regards .....

The adh showed up but not the borderline dcis and is borderline dcis cancer or starting to be cancer. Then they said it all depends on the path that reads the sample. Then they tell me i am in a gray area.buff368

You can still request that your slides be read by another Pathology Lab. If you aren't seeing a Breast Specialist I suggest that you do so and this might help clear things up for you. I'm sure you are more than aggravated at how things have gone in the past. I'm not sure why the ADH wouldn't show up on Excisional Biopsy unless the area was so small that it was removed by the previous needle procedure/ OR/ the Excisional Biopsy did not include the area of ADH. If I were you I would keep searching until you are comfortable with the answers you receive.      Regards .....
