rash

I am 29.  I have had a rash on my areola for the last 3 months.  It seems I have taken everything known to man for it, including antibiotics and a steriod cream.  I went back to the dermatologist yesterday for a follow up, and they did a punch biopsy b/c it still had not cleared up.  The doctor also made a comment that the skin had already started thickening up.  What is this suppose to mean?  I am very nervous right and not sure what to think.  Could this be a sign of something serious?

I don't know if your dermatologist can refer you for a mammogram or other testing.  I would think so.  I hope the thickening is benign.  If you have any concerns about your breast, push for additional testing.  Mammograms are more difficult to read on younger women so sometimes if it is too dense the doctor may request a breast MRI. My prayers are with you.

No I have not.  I am waiting for the results from the biopsy.  Is this something I request from the dermatologist or do  I go elsewhere.   Thanks for the response!

Thickening of the skin is a warning flag so I'm glad that they did a punch biopsy.  Have you requested a MRI or diagnostic breast screening?
