I have a lump that can be felt but yet doesn't show up on a mammogram or ultrasound. My doctor tried to order an MRI, but my insurance refused to pay for it, since I don't have any family history of breast cancer. (Don't you love insurance?)
So, the doctor has me come in every 3 months for a recheck and I am going crazy with the anxiety. No one wants to do a biopsy because I have breast implants, so I feel really stuck, with no options.
I am going to see yet another doctor for a 3rd opinion as to what my options are. If it were up to my doctors, I'd die of cancer before anyone wants to help me. Do I sound angry and frustrated? You bet I am! This has been going on for 6 months.
I hope things going more smoothly for you. Best of luck.
It seems rather unusual that a palpable breast lump would not be evident on either one of the exams you mention. I would suggest that you follow whatever recommendation you prescribing Physician made following the Mammo & US. I'm assuming that he/she was able to palpate the lump and also received the repots on the imaging that was done. You might discuss with him/her the necessity of the MRI as it would need to be ordered. Regards ....
