tissue donation?

my mother has breast cancer. is it possible for her sister in law to donate her own breast tissue for my mother. my mom will be getting her breast removed but does not want implants and does not want her tummy cut open. couldnt my aunt just give some of her healthy tissue for the surgeon to put in my mothers breast?

PS: in my own case, though, I had neither reconstruction nor do I wear a breast prothesis. So, there are other options. The ones japdip mentions are just the usual ones, and that people and professionals discuss, and advertisers, of course.

You know, even if this possible, it's just not done. in your mother's case it is even more complicated than my own ideas that I had, and which was to take tissue from the healthy breast and transfer it to the other side?  Did not even get a response to my question, and that could mean several things. But in your mom's case, there would be the problem of tissue rejection since it's coming from another body, and not even blood related. then she would have to be on drugs for that purpose forever, and that is only in the small possible case that it would work, and which it most likely would not.

So, just consider it a 'NO' even if your thoughts are good and creative.

Cheers, kat

This would not be a viable option .... after mastectomy a woman chooses surgical reconstruction OR to be fitted with a prosthesis which is worn in a mastectomy bra. There are also breast prostheses that adhere to the skin and can be worn with ordinary bras.  Regards ....
