Hi there -

We don't want this to get into a "your word against mine" discussion. We are a support forum, not a debate forum. With so many cysts, this is something you should talk to your doctors about, and they can provide you with more info regarding your specific situation.

I did try to find info about the chip....but there is nothing really there  I wouldn't compare a breast and a spine....breast is really sensitive....I am still searching....http://www.*************.com/breast-cancer/c/question/95513/33627

I rely only on education and experience and don't search websites but I'm sure if you put the terms "titanium chip/ breast biopsy" in search you will find several websites with information. I personally have several titanium parts in my spine and am very happy to have them .... they have never, nor will they ever cause any problem to my general health. They have been there for 8 years now and will remain for the rest of my life. I do hope that you can eventually come to terms with this issue that seems to have caused you so much strife.  Regards ...

Dear japdip, thanks a lot for your time and attempt to clear up the situation!!! No doubt, I am planning to see a doctor pretty soon! How do you know what causes cancer and what not... it's still a big question to millions of people... you never refered me to the sites where I can get detailed info or learn more about the results of using this chip. PLEASE, send me links where I can read about it or find some proof of your words!  Now it's your words against mine...Best Regards to you....

If you are talking about the results of a biopsy that was done then you need to contact your own Dr. whom you saw at the beginning of this episode ... surely you saw a Primary Care Physician who ordered the Mammogram, and whatever followed that testing. I don't know where you are located to say that NONE of the Dr.s have ever heard of this. As far as you making it easier for the Radiologist then you are absolutely thinking the wrong way. I doubt that any Radiologist would be concerned if you had an unnecessary biopsy done on an area that had already been biopsied! This is insure that you are not subjected to an unnecessary procedure .. saving you discomfort, worry, expense, etc. From your attitude that I gather here in your postings I'm not sure that you should agree to any medical procedure in the future. Having confidence in your DR.s is the number 1 factor necessary for you to have good medical care and do your part as a patient. In the end we are all responsible for whatever care we receive ... if we aren't cooperative then there isn't much anyone else can do for your benefit. By the way ... injury to the breast DOES NOT CAUSE CANCER !!!! If at this point as you say, you can't sleep and are covered with bruises and have so much pain I advise you to see someone at a Pain Clinic or perhaps some Counselling might help also .... this much discomfort and stress is NOT normally a result following a biopsy. Kindest regards ...

If this procedure is so good, why so many doctors never heard of it and why nobody explained anything..without my consent.....where can I look at the results...and a proof that is really great and not harmful? I payed a big price to make radiologists job easier...I almost don't sleep, covered with bruises and in pain.... and mammogram was done twice within 4 weeks. I wouldn't be surprise if sometime after they'll find cancer in the breast they damaged!

If you have that many cysts in your breasts I doubt the discomfort you are having is from the "chip". You know these titanium chips are placed so that the area that has been either biopsied or removed can be identified on film and not be confused with another new finding. The chip itself is inserted through a needle and is VERY small. If it weren't there then perhaps in the future when films were taken this area might raise suspicion that it needs some additional investigation ... hence another biopsy of an area that has already been tested. This placement is definitely to your advantage as well as a great help when reading your films. If it is known that you have cysts then there would be no reason to investigate them by biopsy ... it's only areas that can't be definitely identified as harmless that are recommended for biopsy. This is a routine part of the biopsy procedure when no additional surgery is done and the area is left as found except for the sample of tissue taken for Pathologic study. Regards ....

Thanks to everyone for your time and info!!! I am doing my best under these circumstances...My plan is to have a few appointments with docs from another county closer to the civilization ( I mean a big city)...if I still have  some pain and discomfort..I'll make them remove this chip!!!!!!!!! I have about 26 cysts...in both breasts...so..it means  they will insert 26 chips more... TO BE CONTINUED...

I think the real issue here is lack of information.

In my country, this sort of "chipping" isn't done or required during biopsies so I have limited knowledge as to your system.

I do, however, think it inappropriate that a woman undergoing a biopsy is not informed of the process, thus removing their consent to the procedure.

Nickol. you do have options available to you however before deciding on them, it would be useful if you could read the links provided and find out as much as you can about why they are placed and their benefits. After reading, you may find your feelings about the chip will change

If after reading up on this, you find you still feel like a chipped animal then by all means have it removed

Hi.
Many women, including myself were not told either.I guess because this is standard procedure when a biopsy is performed. The clip is important and it will be automatically removed if the surgeon does an open excisional procedure on that area. Some women decide to remove it,for whatever reason, but it will make it harder for radiologists to read future mammograms or if further surgery is needed.
Ultimately it's your choice to have it removed if it causes you any physical problem or if you doubt its usefulness. Please talk to your doctor regarding this issue,so together you can decide what to do about it
Take care....

Hi,

Zouzi, one of our tops answers, posted excellent information in a previous thread about the clips that are placed to mark a biopsy or lumpectomy site . I am providing a link to that thread, which should answer all your questions:
