Are You Baptist, Methodist, OR?

When you came to know Christ, what church did you turn to? Do you remain in that church or have you moved on to another and why? What is the differences between all these churches and does it matter? I speak of the protestant ones in this question.

You like all the ones I like, Judy, and that was another reason that other forum did not like me, they only liked Charles Stanley, but the rest, they said were not of Christ. Made me so angry, grrrrrr.

The man you are talking about is Jack Van Impe, he is awesome, I can not believe how he knows his bible, it is awesome, his wife, Rexella is sure sweet, isn't she? Have you read any of Joel Olsteen's books, they are wonderful and his wife wrote a terrific one as well. I have almost all of Joyce Meyers books, they are a big help to me.

You are thinking of Cresto Dolar. I think that is how you spell it, I have seen him a few times, he is good too. Have you ever seen Kenneth Copeland, Beth Moore, or Fred Price, they are all pretty good too.

Gee, it is nice to talk to someone about things like this and not be afraid of getting verbally slammed over it. :-)

I love Joel Osten, Dr. Charles Stanley's In Touch Ministries is one of my favorites , Joyce Meyers, Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, Relevant Radio is one of my favorite Catholic radio stations. Ther is also a man who talks about the ends of time and understands revelation, which I like to watch...can't think of his name. Not too crazy about Zola, but enjoy his video's on the Holy Land. Oh, and one by the name of "something Dollar"?

I agree, Judy, "Religion" does not make you a Christian, like Joyce Meyers says, just because you sit in a garage, it does not make you a car. Accepting Jesus as your personal Saviour is the ONLY way to be a Christian.

Charles Stanley had an awesome message today, all about controlling anger, he is truly led by the Spirit when he preaches.

Well, I was born, raised Catholic, but left the religion for over 25 yrs....no special reason. One day I was watching Joel Olsten and experience a change to go back to church. I didn't know what direction to go in, but had the need to go anywhere at the moment. I went back to a Catholic church and I'm still there.

As a teen, I venture to Jehova Witnesses Congregation and enjoyed the bible studies, music, but I was only a teenager and they watched every move I made, so I chose not to abide by their strick ways and left the congregation. I have visited and enjoy all types of religious denominations.

Religion does not make the person, it is your personal relationship with Christ! A religious institution will help nurture your spirituality and strenghten your faith, but it is accepting Jesus Christ as you Lord and Savior.  Judy

I was born and raised Catholic, however, I really never fit in. As I got older, and started watching some of the Ministers on TV like Charles Stanley, I felt they had such a better relationship with our Lord. Well, one day, I met a nice family where I worked and we were talking about the Lord, I asked where they went to church and they told me, they said if I wanted, they would pick me up so I could attend with them, I was so excited. I remember well the feeling as I walked in, it was so different from what I was used to but I loved it. Later, I got baptized there and "officially" gave my life to Christ. That was many years ago, and I sure miss that church. I will say that before that, I attend a Bill Glass revival and said the "sinners prayer" there as well, but, it did not mean as much to me as it did at that church.

God is so good, and I thank Him for caring about me and for dying for me and for that wonderful family that took me to their church.
Hugs
Susie

Oh yes, my favorite church is the Baptist faith, and when I lived in Yakima, I attended that church, the church I wrote about was a Charismatic church, the Church of Christ, it was wonderful.

Growing up I went to all different types of services as we usually went to the on base chapel which was a pretty generic protestant service. My mom and her family came from a Baptist background. When I came back to Christ as an adult, I got baptized (again) and started attending a non-denominational church. I like the contemporary type services with contemporary music, although I love a lot of the old hymns too. That's what I like about the church I'm going to now. It mostly plays contemporary Christian music but also plays some of the old hymns from time to time like Amazing Grace.

I'm very picky about churches and pastors. If they're too caught up in their man made doctrines or teach by fear (I've gone to churches like that!) rather than showing God's love and grace then that's not the kind of church I'd want to go to. I really like the church I'm going to now. The pastor has a real heart for God and the church. This church does a lot of outreach too, to the homeless, etc. It took us a long time, probably over a year, to find a good church we felt comfortable in but we're happy now. :)

Im going to start with a little piece of my Church History!...

When I began Highschool my family and I began attending a presbyterian church! I LOVED it! Well I hit some bad teenage years and began smoking ciggs and was pushed away for that! I had my faith and I believe that is all that matters smoker or not! (I was under the legal age but that too in a Church emviroment should not matter!) So around the middle of my Sophmore year quit going to the Church!

When I had my son Julian in 2007 I jooined a Southern Baptist Church and was rebaptized ( I was Baptized in the Presbyterian church by sprinkling water) I was submerged that day and It was a wonderful feeling.. I dont go as much as I should part of whicch being I dont want my son in the nursery with the H1N1 and his heart defect but I have come to the realization today that if hes going to get it he will and there is not anything I can do and the fear of it is the Devil trying to keep me from Going! Well I will overcome what he wants and next week go and I will just pray he and all the other kids stay healthy!

Sorry for my Rambling my answer Southern Baptist!

When I was a child I went to a Methodist Church.  Then when I was an adult I was saved and baptized by a non-denominational church.  I prefer the contemporary church where you are free to roam and not have to worry about sitting and standing and reading from the hymn book.  Even though, I totally love most of those old hymns.  Like Teko and Jollyman said I love the dancing, praising, stomping and getting down with the Lord.

When I started going to church, it was a Southern Baptist Church as well, and I went with my family for Mothers Day. I was saved and baptised in this church and recd the (what I call the milk) for a newborn christian. However as time went on, I was hungry and started visiting other churches. Like you brian, I visited a pentecostal church or two. The first one I went to, I was talked about because I wore makeup and jewelry, (against everything this particular church stood for) lol. The second one I went to, OMG! I was amzd at the people. They were so welcoming and loving and like you, I got my first dose of the meat of the word. We would march around the perimeters of the churh and bind satan from our property, was taught to do the same thing at home. I was baptised in the spirit in this church and it was the most wonderful most rewarding experience I have ever had. It literally changed who I was as a person. Since moving here, I have no located another church and again find my self starved to regain those experiences.  I think the baptist church was responsible for getting me in and saved, fed me from the bottle and then the other responsible for getting me to chew the meat so to speak. And I want more!

when I was saved, I joined a southern baptist church, it was a nice little church here in my hometown. while as some have read in my testimony, I backslid. since I have rededicated my life to the Lord, I go to a non denomational, church. it is a pentecoastal church, I enjoy this church because of the freedom you have in the way you want to worship. the baptist church was ok but it is very conservative and thye do not preach the gifts of the spirit. that is something that i truely beleive in, and it is scriptual, acts chapter 2, really tells of the pentecostal movement.  personally I feel as long as the church is a full gospel teaching and preaching church, it doesn't matter what is on the sign outside of it...Jesus Christ is the most important part of the church, not what title it is given.....God Bless.....brian
