Ten Good Reasons to Read God's Word

Guys, I just had to share with you real quick just how good our God is! I've had a lot of stress over the last few years, in particular this last year. I was starting to let the stress get to me because I was forgetting to rely on God and sometimes was trying to rely on my own strength. I didn't mean to, of course, but I think it's easy to do and not even think about it.
God has reminded me just how so important it is to stay so very close to Him. We simply cannot and should not do anything or even say anything in our own strength or anything that comes from the flesh. Then we are relying on ourselves and not God and that never works! We will fall every time.
I had a habit of praying a lot, even looking up scriptures real quick to help others, but I wasn't getting myself filled back up. I had been neglecting spending time in the Word. It's so important to get filled up on the Word every day! That is our spiritual nurishment and just as imporant (or even more so) than the food we need for our bodies.

A few days ago I opened my Bible and God just spoke to me. I didn't even have to search, it was right there! I love when He does that! I had forgotten how hungry I was!
I've also noticed that nothing gives me the peace like being in His Word. There's just something about it. It's where He speaks to us. The Word is also our Sword in the Armor of God and defeats the enemy from his attacks on us.
I can't stress how important it is for us to be daily in the Word!

I have a few different Bibles and different versions. I have something I'd like to share from my "The Power of a Praying Woman" Bible by Stormie OMartian. I don't know if you guys have heard of Stormie but she's writtten many books, including "The Power of a Praying Wife", etc. This Bible I have has some of her devotions throughout and I just wanted to share this message from her.

Here's another one: Because it's a complete book, manual everything. What other book contains history, poetry, prophecy, stories, health, science etc...:)

"Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." Amos 3:7

Ten Good Reasons to Read God's Word

If you have trouble being in God's Word every day, here are just a few of the many reasons to read the Bible that should inspire you:

1. To know where you are going.
You can't forsee the future or exactly where you are heading but God's Word will guide you. "Direct my footsteps according to Your Word, lt no sin rule over me" Psalm 119:133.

2. To have wisdom.
Knowledge of God's Word is where wisdom begins to grow in you. "The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple" Psalm 19:7

3. To find success.
When you live according to the teachings of the Bible, life works. "Do not let this book of the Law depart from your mouth, meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful" (Joshua 1:8).

4. To live in purity.
You must live a life of holiness and purity in order to enjoy more of the Lord's presence, but you can't be made pure without being cleansed through God's Word.  "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your Word" (Psalm 119:9)

5. To obey God.
If you don't understand what God's laws are, how can you obey them? "Teach me, O Lord, to follow Your decrees, then I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding, and I will keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight" (Psalm 119:35).

6. To have joy.
You cannot be free of anxiety and unrest without the Word of God in your heart. "The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes" (Psalm 19:8).

7. To grow in faith.
You can't grow in faith without reading and hearing the Word of God. "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ" (Romans 10:17).

8. To find deliverance.
You won't know what you need to be free of unless you study God's Word to find out. "If you hold to my teachings, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8: 31-32).

9. To have peace.
God will give you a peace that the world can't give, but you must find it first in His Word. "Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble" (Psalm 119:165).

10. To distinguish good from evil.
Everything has become so relative today, how can you know for sure what is right and wrong without God's Word? "I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against you" (Psalm 119:11).
