Will we all get Omicron?

"...virtually everyone on Earth who is interacting with other humans WITHOUT a mask is likely to have an encounter with the coronavirus at some point."
https://www.healthline.com/health-news/is-everyone-eventually-going-to-get-the-omicron-variant#Exposure-vs.-infection

This article is a month old and says to wait until June to find out if herd immunity develops or if new problems arise.

Nobody really knows and even masked vaccinated people can get the virus. I know of whole families who tested positive and were asymptomatic as well.  Also, for whatever unknown reason some people never contract the illness even when exposed.

Yep, it's really strange. It just went through my sister's house - she and two of her kids had it. Her husband and her 3rd kid never got it. All were boosted, mask wearing varies.

I got it while masked and vaxxed - not yet boosted, though.

Friends of my mom - the husband died, wife never got it.

I'm sure one day we'll know more as to why.
OH, many have the virus and didn't know it. We had it in our home.  Me, sick for 12 days. Husband, sick for 4. one son sick for 2 days and another never showed symptoms. People say they test and they don't.  Or they use the inaccurate home tests.  Or testing is off in general. Or they assume they had it but it was never proven. Had negative tests and assume they were wrong or never tested.  Or think they didn't have it and that wasn't proven either.  It's a big hodgepodge mess in my opinion with speculation abounding.
I agree~ it is a big Hodgepodge mess. Besides hearing of false tests and asymptomatic people and so many getting the virus despite being vaxxed.  Maybe someday it will make sense ?

It's hard to say.  We have people good at following mitigation, people who refuse to and people who still get covid when they are careful and following protection recommendations.  I would imagine that at some point, herd immunity will be reached and we are all looking forward to that day.  I read recently that the virus WILL keep mutating until it runs out of untouched hosts. But I do believe virology generally follows a path of less and less severe infections.  But covid 19 is anything but normal so this could break all norms.
