Ductal dilatation within the liver v. Malignant Neoplasm of Extra Hepatics Bile Ducts

Mom wo was 64 years old went to a hospital in Arizona.  During the scanning of her abdomen, two MDs Radiologist found "One quentionable ductal dilation within the liver."  Also found "A large left renal cyst."  The hospital or the doctors did any follow-up on the findings.  Mom's regular "MD" who was an actual a nurse was in charge of his medical office but it was owned by a real MD who was runing his other office 10 miles away.  The nurse kept telling her "not to worry about her liver....that the liver was fine"

From 2000 to 2008 she complained of abdominal area around her liver.  In early 2008 the MDs found that Mom had an aggressive cancer in the liver.

She went to San Diego's UCSD Moores Cancer Center. Where they attempted to remove the entire tumor.  Unfortunately only 90% was removed.

An MD and Expert on this type of tumors, called the trumorous cancer: Primary 156.1 Mailgnant Neoplams of Extra Hepaticd Bile Ducts.

Mom died on January 22, 2010.  The tumor was as big as 50% the size of her liver.

Please do you know if there is any association between what was found in 2000 and what Mom later developed.

Mom's cancer has been classied by four Oncologists as:

1) Primary 156.1 Mailgnant Neoplams of Extra Hepaticd Bile Ducts,

2) Metastatic Adenocarcionoma

3) Cholangiocarcinoma

4) Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Thank you!

Miguel

They should have definitely followed up the questionable ductal dilation in the liver.  The NP pretty much brushed the finding "off."  The NP should have referred your mother to a GI Specialist for an endoscopy, etc.  When the NP did nothing your mother should have sought a second opinion ASAP at that point from an MD.

All the findings between 2000-2010 ARE associated and unfortunately were not attended to in a timely manner.  However, I cannot say the renal cyst was the BIGGEST problem; it was the dilated duct in the liver that was the "red flag."

Ductal cancer moves with a vengeance and has to be addressed as soon as it is suspected.  Usually, survival rates are not very high even when a patient has been given chemo treatment, etc.

i AM SORRY:  THE TWO MD'S or the hospital DID NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP Mom to get rid of the liver and renal large cyst issues.
