18 years old and horrified

Posted: 02/04/09 - 11:55    Post subject: 18 years of age and horrified!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good Afternoon everyone.

Lately I've been feeling under the weather.
I've had a small fever last Friday, and wasn't eating anything with a small headache, soreness of the throat, and swollen lymph nodes. The doctor said it was just an infection/virus that was going around.

But it's been almost a week and I still haven't been feeling good.
I've lost weight, had no appetite at all, and i'm feeling fatigue and week.
My stomach occasionally upsets me.
And i've ate a total of five pizza begals.. some cereal.. lots of fruit, a little bit of soup and a half a bagel since Monday.
Mom said it could also be nerves
I was 124 last friday, and went down to 121. I am 5'4.

Here's the thing:
Lately i've been playing doctor on my self and going to WebMD and typing in my symptoms and all other websites, and they come up with things like
Stomach Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, and Throat Cancer.
I went for a blood test today, and I find out Monday whats up.

From anyone whose had these experience, what can you tell me
I'm absolutley horrified.

I agree with the others. Don't google your symptoms. They could be anything. And just about any symptom is a sign of cancer. So I wouldn't worry about that. When I am stress I can drop the pounds quick. But once the stress has gone, I start eating and gaining my weight back. I would think that at the age of 18 you are too young for Pancreatic Cancer and the others. If you were a heavy drinker and smoker, that would put you at higher risk for throat cancer, and at age 18, I don't think you would be doing those things. (Right?)

Like Beau said, this could just be the flu. It can take days to get over it sometimes.

Do not worry. I have found when you do the diagnosis of yourself some bad thoughts go through your head. When I was diagnosed my weight loss was over 20lbs. Put your mind at ease until you hear back from your doctor. You may only have the flu. Stay calm
and believe in positive thoughts. Take care.
