Best of Luck with figuring out what is up with your little girl. I also wanted to say how wonderful and caring it is of Dr. Bhumika to peruse and sometimes post in the patient forums. It's really fantastic that there are physicians like you out there. It is also a really
sad commentary on our medical system that this wonderful site is so popular because problems are not being resolved in the office. God Bless the doctors who support this site, giving freely of their time and expertise, and walking on tree limbs where others fear
to walk. Bless you all, the most compassionate and generous who fill this unspoken need. Thank You.
Hi,
It would be best to get the blood tets done first to rule out any infections. It would also be best to get a chest xray, urine examination, blood culture etc done too.
Is your daughter eating well? Has she had any weight loss?
Are you seeing your family doctor or a pediatrician?
The CT scan could wait a little till you get the basic investigations done first.
Let us know about how she is doing now and what her doctor says.
Post us any other doubts that you have.
Regards.
Thank you so much for replying. My daughter is 3 and half years old and immunisations are up to date. She isn't on any medications. Skin lesions? Two wks ago she got a mossy bite on her leg two other sores came up around it aswell and all got infected doc gave us bactroban and it's healing. Our doctor has not yet ruled out anything really. He did a check up on her and couldnt find anything wrong. because of her headaches He suggested we get her eyes checked which we did today and they are fine. but what about the fevers and sore legs? i'm very annoyed he isn't trying to rule out anything else. I took her back to the doctor today he says he can understand why i'm so worried but he hasn't suggested what else it could be. But he asked me if i wanted a referral to a specialist then get a ct scan done or the ct scan dun first to rule out brain tumors then see a specialist. He hasn't even suggested sum blood tests. I told him i checked the net and suggested what it could be but nothing i feel i hav to demand things to be done.I'm confused. Am i being too worried? Do you know what tests need to be done to rule out viral fever, bacterial infections and rheumatic fever? Could there be a chance it could be meningitis or glandular fever? Could you pleas suggest to me what i should do? Should i go ahead with the ct scan or see a specialist first to try rule out other things? And do blood test? After her bad night on Saturday she has bin OK but still getting the head aches through the night and in the morning. Is it safe for her to have a ct scan or are we rushing into it?
Hi,
What is your daughter's age? Is she adequately immunized for her age?
Has viral fever and bacterial infections like tuberculosis been ruled out? On what medications is she currently?
Does she have any skin lesions etc? Has your doctor ruled out rheumatic fever?
Nothing can be said without a detailed clinical examination and relevant investigations.
Let us know about how she is doing and if you have any other doubts.
Post us the above answers so that we may be able to help you.
Regards.
