Change in Voice

About 4 weeks ago I noticed a change in my voice. It's not so much hoarseness, but almost nasally sounding. At first, I thought it might be a sinus infection (although I've never had any sinus problems). I did feel sick at one point with a clogged head and general weakness, but those symptoms went away. I can't really tell where it's coming from and now I'm not even sure if the change is nasal or just different. I'm a long time smoker so obviously my concern is lung, throat, or some other type of lymphatic cancer, etc.

Please don't say see a doctor because I don't have insurance and can't afford one. I just heard that change in voice is a symptom of cancer and am wondering how long I got before I can no longer function normally. Other than this I feel fine.

Thanks
