Do I have to take Femara?

I have been cancer free for 2 years and am off of ALL meds.  I finally feel like my old self!  My Doctor is highly suggesting that I  take Femara.   Is the percentage of reoccuring cancer that much less with this med?  I really do not want to take any more medication.  I do have consistent problems with necrosis in the area that was cancerous.  I have had surgery to remove it  (necrosis mass) 5 months ago and it has returned again.  Does Femara have any thing to do with this problem?

Thank you for your information.   I have been soooo extremely ill, weak, fatigued and depressed with medication.  I do not do well with medication.  I can't begin to express my agony regarding taking this medication.  I do not want to go down that "foggy, medicated, physically aching" road again.  Is this that important?  Of course, I do not want to jeapordize my health, but in taking the medication, am I doing the same thing?  I value any comments.  I am actually physically ill right now with anxiety, and that is not my nature.  Thank you.

Hi,

Studies with femara have shown that it causes about 27% reduction in risk of recurring breast cancer. Other studies have shown that the yearly risk of recurrent breast cancer is reduced by half with femara. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F00E6DE143FF933A25753C1A9659C8B63
I suggest you to please follow the advise of your treating doctor.
