Has anyone had lumps like those????

My mother is 46 years old and has started to go through menopause,so she has been feeling crappier than usual. She was having a bath and found a lump on her upper thigh by her vagina. Not on it but on her leg really close too it.She said it is quite large. She also found one under her arm as well.It is not as big as the other one.She went to the doctor and they took fluid out of it.It is going to take 2 weeks for any results. Then depending on the results I believe they would send her for a biopsy. The doctor also told her that the chances for cancer or it being something else is 50/50.I am really worried about this.He gave her some topical ointment to try and bring the swelling down in the meantime.Keep your fingers crossed.Has anyone had this and everything turned out fine.Could these lumps be related to menopause? Any answers or info that you could give would be so helpful in this time of stress and waiting

Hi again.
Biopsy can help the clinician in ruling-out malignancy.
Malignant tumors are mostly solid in character and will not shrink after doing an aspiration biopsy, or after an application of topical cream.
Hopefully there are enough specimens in your mother’s re-biopsy so that there will be a more conclusive diagnosis.
Regards.

I have no idea what was written on the official biopsy report. They did take more fluid and stuck the needle way deeper. So if the lumps shrunk thank it is pretty safe to say that it is not cancer?

Hi.
What was written on the official biopsy report?  You mentioned that it was inconclusive.  There is a possibility that the biopsy needle did not hit the area of interest.  Or there are not enough specimens for the pathologist to examine.  When there is an inconclusive report, a re-biopsy may be done.
Malignant tumors will not shrink with the application of topical cream.
Take care.

So my mother got her results back and they said that it was inconclusive. What does this mean? The lump under her arm has gone and the one on her leg is going away from the cream. She had to go back in and they had to draw more fluid again. Why would they need to draw more fluid? I am confused if they were tumors especially cancer would those shrink with the topical cream? Please any info would be helpful.

How are you doing?
From your post, it seems that the lump in your mother’s upper inner thigh (inguinal area) is cystic in nature.  The fluid inside the cyst was already aspirated and the specimen already sent to the pathologist for evaluation.  The result of the aspiration biopsy will help give the diagnosis.  The topical ointment (perhaps a topical antibiotic) given to her can help in bringing the swelling down.
I don’t think the lump has any relation to her being in the menopausal state.
Hopefully the result of the biopsy turns out to be benign.  Please do post your updates.
Regards.
