I'm Concerned For My Father :'(

Hi everyone, my Father has been smoking a LOT of Cigarettes since the age of 12, and hasn't stopped inbetween once, and i'm seriously worried about his health now, he's constantly coughing really aggressively, and i'm worried eventually the worst is going to happen - Cancer. I keep telling him to stop, but I know he won't. He is 45 by the way.

What can I do to make him stop? And if he carries on smoking like this, will he eventually get cancer?

Very Good comment purplenoodles. Most Parents will try hard to quit when approached by their children. My cancer was not caused by smoking, but I did smoke. Lung Cancer is the one of the highest causes of death. Maybe show him some websites about Lung Cancer. Tell him you love him, and you want to have him to be around when you are his age. My prayers go out to you.

Hey yeah im 15 and was extremley worried about my parents smoking the both started at 13 so i looked it up and they were spending like $5000 aus a year on it smoking a pack a day which they didnt realise also each ciggarette takes around 12 minutes from your life. once i told them they slowed down but didnt stop but then when my mums father died of cancer because of smoking it hit them hard and they pretty much stopped after a few weeks.
hopefully you can get them to stop by giving them the facts on what its actualy doing to them
