Is it lymphnode cancer?

In 2004 2 lumps appeared at the side of my neck and they use to hurt whenever I touched them so I went to a doctor and was told that it could be several things but I was diagnosed with swollen lymph nodes which I was told become swollen to fight off a cold(which I didn't have and neither did I get one later on) and I was told that they should go away within two months so I was given antibiotics. To this date, I still have 1 well I can still feel 1 I should say and it still hurts if I apply pressure to it. I get a lot of sore throats and Im not sure if the two or connected. Can anyone help me?

Have they done any imaging of your thyroid?  A simple ultrasound would tell if there is anything worrisome in the thyroid.

It may be something to consider since there are no symptoms of thyroid cancer and the lymph nodes can often be involved.

Hi,

How are you?
Do you have any weight loss, loss of appetite and fatigue?
I would suggest you to please get a biopsy of the lymph node and a blood test done to rule out cancer just to be on the safe side.
Do keep us posted!

The one I have now has been since 2004 and it doesn't go away, it's always there so I dunno but cancer does run in my family.

Hi,
How are you?
Since you have no other symptoms apart from sore throat and enlarged lymph node
it is quite possible that the swollen lymph node in your neck is due to sore throat.
The lymph nodes often swell up in response to infection any where in the body. The chances of cancer in your case seem very less.
Do let me know if you need more information.
