Kidney diseases

I had a ct scan of my pelvis and stomach because of left side pelvic pain.  In the process the radiologist saw "something" on my left kidney, but could not see it clearly.  So i have to go back for a ct scan of my kidneys.  My question is, besides the possibility of a tumor, what other "something" could it be?  A cycst?  Kidney stone? scar tissue from a previous kidney stone???  I had an xray in dec to look for a kidney stone but none showed up.  I did have a large stone about 25 years ago that rumbled around my kidney for six  months or more.

Thank you so much for the reply.  I guess i don't understand why s contrast ct scan would not reveal exactly what was on my kidney?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
A complete history, clinical examination findings and investigations are important for determining the exact cause of your symptoms. Dark spots that appear on kidney ultrasounds can represent cysts, abscesses, abnormalities of the blood vessels, kidney stones, old calcifications or kidney cancer. Cysts on the kidney are usually harmless and large cysts may need surgical treatment if they are producing symptoms. Each of these condition mentioned above will present will associated symptoms and signs like burning urination, increased frequency of urination, weight loss etc.A CT scan will definitely be helpful. Do clarify all your concerns with your doctor after the test results. Keep me posted on how you are doing.
Best luck and regards!
