Hey. thankyou so much for your previous post. I had a surgery 2 weeks ago to get my lump removed, to get its biopsy done. Thankgod the biopsy reports term the lump as benign. However, the doctor told me that i have very low haemoglobin (7.3 before my surgery) so i had to go under blood transfusion too. the doctor said that im losing blood due to heavy periods. I had a transvaginal ultrasound and its reports show that few fybroids were seen in the uterus, the largest one is in the posterior wall and is indenting endometrial echo. the doctor has suggested that i get my uterus removed. unfortunately i also have the problem of hiatus hernia, so i cannot take certain foods, such as spinach, and certain juices to increase my haemoglobin
what precations should i take before getting my uterus removed? and how will i keep my haemoglobin level high? And can you also suggest ways in which i can keep myself in good health before the operation? Most probably the surgery will be in december 2008.
How are you? Patients with Phylloides typically present with a firm, palpable mass within the connective tissue of the breast. These tumors are very fast growing and definite diagnosis is through an open biopsy. Occurrence is most common between the ages of 40 and 50, prior to the menopause. Phyllodes tumors develop only in the breast and not found in other parts of the body.
Surgical excision is the usual treatment for phyllodes tumors. The prognosis for benign phyllodes tumors is good following surgical removal. However, there is a 20–35 percent chance of recurrence, depending on the histologic grade. Recurrence is usually treated with further surgery, either another local excision or a complete mastectomy. There is no way to prevent phyllodes tumors because their cause is not yet known. Other than surgery, there is no cure for phyllodes, as chemotherapy & radiation therapy are not effective. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phyllodes_tumor)
