Worried

I have recently had an MRI done which indicated I had a 5 mm pancreatic cyst.  It also showed a small cyst on each kidney.  I decided, on my own, to go for a CA 19.9 test to which my doctor agreed.  It showed a level of 52.  I am terrified and have myself dead already.  I have no symptoms at all except back pain which I've had before this incident.  My doctor says he is not experienced in this field but the level might indicate a possibility of cancer whether it be in the pancreas, liver, colon or lungs.  I am a 53 year old woman and terrified.  What is your opinion?

This is NOT necessarily any cancer.  The CA 19.9 is NOT a realiable marker to use to diagnose cancer, in specific, pancreatic cancer; too many false positives and false negatives.  The pancreatic cyst is very small.

How big are the cysts on the kidneys?

How is the cyst situation?  I also have a 5mm cyst in head of pancreas and an 8mm cyst on upper lobe of left kidney.  My doc wants me to wait 6 months before proceeding.  It has been 3 months and I am so worried.  I hope you respond to this and we can keep tabs on our progress.  I have back pain and floating stools which are cancer symptoms from what I gather.  ugh  Let me know how you are.

Yes, it could turn out these cysts on your kidneys are nothing significant.  I have one on my right kidney and it has stayed the same size for about 5 years now.  I know its there, but I am having no problems with it.  Same with the pancreatic cyst.  I would recommend having it rescanned later and see if there is any change.

Hopefully, this H-Pylori is the culprit and nothing else.

All the best.  :)

Thank you so much for your response.  The cysts on my kidney's are 4mm and 6mm.  I recently went into the hospital for an endoscope biopsy of the pancreatic cyst.  It was so small that they couldn't get a biopsy.  I now have to wait 3 months to have another MRI done to see if it has grow - I PRAY TO GOD IT DOESN'T.  This cyst is a constant reminder to me every day.  I was a little worried about them going in to do the biopsy but it was a good thing they did because they found my stomach to be very red and did a biopsy which showed I have H-pylori and am on a lot of antibiotics for two weeks.  I am so glad they found that because I have been having stomach problems for years and I hope it is due to this bacterial infection.
