Is surgery the only option when you develop colon polyps twice in 6 months?

I am a 55yr old male. In the last twelve months I have had two colonoscopies the first had over35 polyps the second procedure 8 months later showed 20 polys all were non-cancerous. Is the fact that I produce polyps so fast a reason to have my Large Intestine removed as has been suggested by both surgeons who performed these procedures, Should I monitor or have the operation and remove the large intestine?

You don't mention the size of hospital you've been to or the level of experience of the specialist you've seen.  If you're in a more rural area, you may well want to get another opinion from a hospital that specializes Ian colorectal cancer.  It made a difference in the treatment I ultimately opted for and gave me great peace of mind as I moved forward.  Good luck to you!

Unfortunately, this is the best option since you are producing a large number of polyps in a short period of time.

You can always get a third opinion too.
