cancer

Hi, I have swelling ,pain on left side of face ,pain on jaw, headache, pain on outer ear from last six months.Everyday i see more swelling and  pain is becoming worst.. I feel very tired , dizzy the whole day. From last 3-4 days i couldnot even go to work as with the pain i m unable to talk to people on the phone even.My doctor is working on this from last 6 months but is unable to find the cause of the problem. I had MRI for TMJ which was negative. I had all blood and urine tests and all negative. Now My doctor said the  problem is  in the glands and my glands are swollen and he  prescribed me a  CT Scan for soft tissue.
I am too worried . Can this be a lypmph nodes cancer thing? Pls advise what this thing can be? What all described symptoms tell?

Thanks a lot andrew for the follow up. I had my cervical and sinus x- ray done today and will get the results in a day or so. Now the doctor is going in this direction and we'll find out what is causing the swelling , numness and discomfort.I appreciate your concern Andrew and once again thanks a lot for all the valuable advise. It looks weird but i m getting better with physio therapy. No pain , very mild swelling ,little numbness and discomfort. I have this swelling on left side of my face from last 8 - 9 months and since i started the physio therapy I m getting better.

Hi hava , looks like you are indian or may be you know lot more about indian yoga.I do yoga particularly "Kapalbharti" and "Anulom Vilom" once or twice a week. I went to India in summers and brought Ram Dev gurus yoga DVDs  but didnot get the chance to practise those assans, may be now i should spend 50- 60 minutes everyday for yoga. I will do both the exercises recommended by you.

These two exercises will improve the functions of the glands and will very much help you feel better.Any questions - please ask.
Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30  minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Hi.
It's good to know that the result of your CT scan came out negative.
However, you need to be vigilant in observing any changes in the swelling.
Best of luck to you.

Hi , I have the results from CT scan ,thank God nothing serious... but unable to find the cause of the swelling and pain. The results from the CT scan says the gland on the left side of the neck is enlarged but no abnormalities found. My doctor said some people can have enlarged glands and its normal and he also said  it can be a sinus thing as well and he recommended an X-ray for that ,but i never have cold , cough or any kind of sinus symptoms. Really confused , I think  now i have to live with this pain , discomfort and swelling as my doctor said its normal , no big issue .I have also started physiotheraphy and its gives me some temporary relief.
I am born and brought up in India and migrated to canada few years back. I will wait for  6 more months and if my condition remains the same then i think i will go to india for treatment because here in canada its takes months to book up for any x-ray, ct scan and even to book up doctors appointment and my medical condition is becoming worse day by day but still the doctor says its normal. Here you can get the fast and good treatment if something is life threatning and i donot want to wait till my medical condition becomes life threathing for me.

Hi.
A soft tissue CT scan can help in identifying if there is a pathology as well as its location.
You should also try to relax as stress can aggravate your symptoms.

My doctor gave me antibiotics earlier but that trial didnot resolve the issue. Now he advised me for a CT scan for soft tissue which i have next week.He also tried antiinflammatory which i took for 2 months but nothing worked. Another thing ,my job is very stressful, sometimes i feel may be i m having problems because of stress.During weekends i donot feel pain ,i just feel heavyness, swellng, numbness in that area.Weekdays when i go to work it gets worst.Do u think the CT scan for soft tissue will give us any indication/cause of the problem?I m too worried.I hope its not cancer thing ,just a ear infection, dental problem or stress.

Hi.
Do you have an ear infection?
A swollen lymph node could mean an infection or a reaction from an infection elsewhere.  A trial of antibiotic may be warranted.  If it doesn't resolve with treatment, it is recommended to have it biopsied to find out any pathology.
Good luck.
