Hi.
Selenium is a micronutrient with an antioxidant property. There are numerous trials investigating its use in cancer prevention, primarily in prostate and skin cancers. However, its use in patients who already have the disease is still investigational.
Good luck on your daughter's treatment.
Thank you, my daughter is now undergoing a 9 week treatment of chemo as the PET CT scans showed up 3 other very small areas of LPHL all the in same area (pelvis) as the tumor was removed. Rachel's oncologist is hopeful that this course of treatment should eradicate it all. I was also wondering if you had heard of selenium being co-administered with chemo treatment as well as being used as a cancer cure itself ?
Again, thank you so much for your feedback
Hi.
Lymphocyte-Predominant Hodgkin's Lymphoma (LPHL) is an indolent type of lymphoma with relatively better prognosis as compared to other variants of hodgkin's lymphoma.
There is evidence to support that some subsets of patients may not need further treatment after surgical excision. However, LPHL may relapse just like the other variants, but the relapse is less aggressive.
You can always ask a hematologist or an oncologist for a second opinion.
Good luck.
