colon cancer

I'm a 54 year old woman with a family history of colon cancer (an Aunt at 72 and and Sister at 18).  I've recently had some bleeding and don't know whether to worry about it or not.  It's bright red and very small amount.  I also have hemmoroids that I've always put this down too, but I'm just starting to wonder if I should be worried.

This could be a number of things besides cancer.  I would recommend consulting a GI Specialist about this.

Hi momofeight, you are at an age where a colonoscopy might be a good idea, if I'm not mistaken the baseline is usually age 50 and most people get them in their 50's.  With the history of colon cancer it might be a good idea.  Polyps can cause bleeding too, alot of things can so I would make a dr appt and discuss it with him/her.  I wouldn't worry yet, I'd wait and see what they said and if you have the test, the results.
