no diagnosis yet?

My husband hasn't got a diagnosis yet.  I'm concerned he may have lymphoma.  He has been referred to a oncologist.  Is the only way to find out if this diagnosis is lymphoma to see the oncologist for biopsy and further testing?  Usually can the primary care already determine this before an oncologist or hemotologist gets involved?  Thank you for any information you can give to me.

Hi.
How are you doing?
A biopsy will confirm the diagnosis of lymphoma.  A primary care physician knowledgeable in the symptoms and signs a patient is experiencing or having should make an initial impression and request for diagnostic work-ups.  Your husband is being referred to an oncologist for further evaluation.  Perhaps your primary care physician is suspecting a possible malignancy that is why a referral to an oncologist is suggested.
Hope this helps.
